Explore the Amazing Secret of Misamis Oriental

The Province of Misamis Oriental is located in the northern part of Mindanao, bounded on the north by Macajalar Bay, on the east by Agusan del Norte and Gingoog Bay, on the south and southwest by both provinces of bukidnon and Lanao del Norte.

The name Misamis was dereived from the word “MISA”(a spanish term for Eucharistic Mass or a Church rite). When Christianity was yet new in the Philippines, every time priest travelled around the province, the christian converts were usually heard to shout “Misa! Misa!” Thus over a period of time the spanish missionaries started to call the province by the name Misamis.

Misamis Oriental is composed of 23 Municipalities and the 2 component cities of El salvador and Gingoog. The province is home to some of the biggest industrial, manufacturing and agricultural companies in the country. It is also home to one of the country’s busiest airports – the Laguindingan International Airport. The province is blessed with fertile soils, natural land and seascapes with abundant biodiversity and eco-tourism in the whole of Region 10.
